Two volumes in one book. Bound in quarter leather with brown cloth boards and a buckram spine with simple gilt titling. Neatly rebacked with new endpapers. Incidences of spotting throughout and page edges slightly browned. Volume I includes a frontispiece of Alexander I, pp 512. Volume II appears incomplete as it finishes abruptly on page 248 with an incomplete sentence. On the final page there is a memorandum from T. Booth that explains "This work was never completed further than the 248th page of Volume the Second."
