Hard back. The front and rear boards are largely without signs of wear, with only some very slight markings. The spine is a little more worn, especially along the top and bottom edges, with the gold gilt title a little worn. The top edge of the papers retains a striking red colour, whilst the fore edge is very slightly foxed. Internally, the half title page and the final page of the index are toned. The text is clean and readable throughout. pp. xxii + 270. Overall, a very good copy of this collection of works on a variety of topics related to the Middle Ages in Britain, covering Roman and Celtic survival, the Pagan and Christian Saxons, and the Viking Age, accompanied by numerous illustrations.
