A very good Folio Society edition of a selection of Chekhov's short stories, translated and with an introduction by Elisaveta Fen. The front and rear boards show little sign of wear, retaining their striking yellow colour and pictorial design. The spine appears in very good condition, and although a little faded, the gold gilt title is bright. The dark green top edge to the text block does not show any markings. Housed in a simple slip case, showing little sign of wear. Pages clean throughout. pp. 259. Overall, a beautifully illustrated collection of short stories by this giant of Russian literature.
